“The Selfish Microbiologist…”

If I did everything that was requested of me every day (answering emails & phonecalls, reviewing policies, laboratory work, attending meetings etc etc), I would never have any time left do do my own work.

Sometimes I am a little bit selfish in order to make time for the things that I want to complete: that unwritten paper, preparing a presentation, reading an article that really interests me…

If you are completely selfless to the whims/demands of other people, you may find yourself regarded as a “good worker” but unable to advance your passion or career in microbiology.

Someone else’s “urgent” should not necessarily be your priority….

p.s. I have added a quick tutorial on the “ABC” of erythromycin to the website.
